The fanciful cover to the iconic Jane Yolen’s new collection HOW TO FRACTURE A FAIRY TALE
The fine folks at B&N SCI-FI & FANTASY BLOG were the first to reveal the fantastical cover to SFWA Grandmaster Jane Yolen’s forthcoming collection HOW TO FRACTURE A FAIRY TALE.
Science Fiction and fantasy Grand Master Jane Yolen reached an impressive career milestone earlier this year, publishing her 365th book. You pick up some things, writing a book for every day of the year, and this fall, she’ll be sharing some of her secrets in a new short story collection HOW TO FRACTURE A FAIRY TALE. It’s another set of retellings of classic tales in new ways from a writer The New York Times called “the Aesop of America,” following on the silver sequined heels of her 2017 collection THE EMERALD CIRCUS.
Check out the official summary and cover art, designed by Elizabeth Story, below. The book is available for preorder now.
Fantasy legend Jane Yolen (THE EMERALD CIRCUS, The Devil’s Arithmetic) delights with this effortlessly wide-ranging offering of fractured fairy tales. Yolen fractures the classics to reveal their crystalline secrets, holding them to the light and presenting them entirely transformed; where a spinner of straw into gold becomes a money-changer and the big bad wolf retires to a nursing home. Rediscover the fables you once knew, rewritten and refined for the world we now live in—or a much better version of it.
