Happy birthday to the amazing Hannu Rajaniemi

The Finnish writer Hannu Rajaniemi holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Oulu, a Certificate of Advanced Study in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge, and a Ph.D. in Mathematical Physics from the University of Edinburgh. While in Edinburgh, he joined Writers’ Bloc, a writers’ group whose membership also included Charles Stross.
Rajaniemi’s debut
science fiction novel The Quantum Thief introduced thief Jean
le Flambeur received almost universal praise, winning the
Tähtivaeltaja Award for best science fiction book published in
Finnish and garnering a John W. Campbell Memorial Award nomination.
The following two novels The Fractal Prince (2012) and The
Causal Angel (2014) also featured le Flambeur. His latest novel Summerland, appeared this past summer. Words Of Birth
and Death and HANNU RAJANIEMI: COLLECTED FICTION
compiled much of his short fiction.
