Author Samantha Mills and Editor Jaymee Goh Named Hugo Award Finalists

Samantha Mills has been nominated for the 2026 Hugo Award for Best Short Story for “10 Visions of the Future; or, Self-Care for the End of Days.” Mills’s editor Jaymee Goh has been nominated in the Best Editor, Longform category for her work at Tachyon Publications.
Multi-award-winning author Samantha Mills is widely considered one of the hottest talents in science fiction and fantasy. “10 Visions” exemplifies her captivating near-future voice, blending formal experimentation with a character-driven narrative.
Jaymee Goh is also a rising star as an editor in the speculative fiction community. She has launched the careers of major talents such as Mills, Martin Cahill, Naseem Jamnia, and R.B. Lemberg, whose novella Yoke of Stars received the 2025 World Fantasy Award.
Goh and Mills collaborated on the debut Compton Crook Award-winning novel, The Wings Upon Her Back and Mills’ new collection Rabbit Test and Other Stories (Tachyon; 4/21/26). Goh will also be editing Mills’s untitled second novel.
Regarding her Hugo nomination, Mills commented: “I wrote this story as a love letter to my friends and family, acknowledging our shared fears while rejoicing in all the ways that communities come together in times of uncertainty. I am thrilled to have made the final Hugo ballot and grateful to everyone who nominated me.”
Goh commented: “Working with Samantha is an utter delight and I am chuffed to see her nominated once again for the Hugo Award. I am also deeply honored to be nominated and excited to stand among my peers on the ballot this year.”
The Hugo Awards, amongst the most prominent honors in science fiction and fantasy publishing, are voted on by members of the World Science Fiction Convention. The awards will be presented at the 2026 convention in Los Angeles.
