Best known for crafting intelligent and unique secret histories, Tim Powers first gained acclaim for one of the earliest and finest steampunk novels: THE ANUBIS GATES, which won the Philip K. Dick, SF CHRONICLE, and Prix Tour-Apollo awards. Many of his other works have also won awards including DINNER AT DEVIANT’S PALACE (Philip K. Dick), THE STRESS OF HER REGARD (Mythopoeic Award), LAST CALL (World Fantasy and LOCUS), EXPIRATION DATE (LOCUS), EARTHQUAKE WEATHER (LOCUS), DECLARE (World Fantasy and International Horror Guild), and the collection THE BIBLE REPAIRMAN AND OTHER STORIES (World Fantasy).

Powers’ novel ON STRANGER TIDES inspired both the MONKEY ISLAND video game franchise and the movie PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES. Among his other acclaimed works are DINNER AT DEVIANT’S PALACE, THREE DAYS TO NEVER, HIDE ME AMONG THE GRAVES, and MEDUSA’S WEB.

His numerous short stories have been collected in NIGHT MOVES AND OTHER STORIES, ON PIRATES (with James Blaylock as by William Ashbless), THE DEVILS IN THE DETAILS (with James Blaylock), STRANGE ITINERARIES, and THE BIBLE REPAIRMAN AND OTHER STORIES.

An accomplished artist, several of his smaller/limited edition publications offer Power crafted covers and interiors. He produced the covers to the James Blaylock chapbooks DOUGHNUTS and METAMORPHOSIS as well to his own chapbook THE BIBLE REPAIRMAN. Works with interior illustrations include THE SILENT REBELLION, SELECTED DOODLES, and the Charnel House limited edition of THE STRESS OF HER REGARD.

Meet Tim Powers and James Morrow at Capclave 2016

Tachyon authors Tim Powers and William Morrow will be at Caplave 2016 in Gaithersburg, Maryland, October 7-9. Powers joins acclaimed Sarah Beth Durst as Guests of Honor for this year’s convention.

Sponsored by the Washington Science Fiction Association, Capclave is a small relaxed literary convention with a program that usually focuses on the short fiction form. Guests of Honor and other notable authors, editors, artists, and fans of the short fiction form will explore the creation and enjoyment of short fantasy and science fiction genre stories.
