Meet “The People’s Commissar of Awesome” Nick Mamatas

The multiple Hugo and World Fantasy Awards nominee Nick Mamatas is signing at Temescal Branch of the Oakland Public Library on Saturday, April 6, 2:30-4.
Called “the people’s commissar of awesome” by sci-fi superstar China Mieville, Oakland author Nick Mamatas will present from his most recent book of stories, THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF EVERYTHING (Tachyon Publications) & from other work from his prolific career as a writer of horror, science fiction, satire, fantasy and essays. He has published seven novels, including Move Under Ground of 2004 (in a style described as a blend of H. P. Lovecraft and Jack Kerouac) and his most recent murder mystery, I am Providence (2016). He has been active, too, as an editor, making contemporary Japanese genre fiction available to readers of English with collections such as 2015’s Hanzai Japan. His work as a writer and an editor has received nominations for Hugo, Locus, World Fantasy, Bram Stoker, Shirley Jackson, and International Horror Guild Awards.
