Join Kimberly Unger at BayCon 2022
Kimberly Unger, author of THE EXTRACTIONIST and NUCLEATION, is attending this year’s BayCon, July 1-4 at San Mateo Marriott San Francisco Airport in San Mateo, CA.
It’s been over two years and we are happy to finally be able to host an in-person event!
About BayCon 2022
BayCon 2022’s theme will explore both what we did in the time we were apart and what we’re looking forward to now that we are back together. Some of us had great bursts of creation during lockdown. Others — equally important — spent their energy on simply returning to us as whole as possible. Over the weekend we’ll examine how these paths have served us, and look forward to what is to come. The last two years have shaped a more dystopian media, but simultaneously created a desire for something more hopeful and positive.
The question of the weekend is perhaps, “what did our paths look like apart and what will they look like as they join together again?”

Space Ships- The Transportation of the Future
Does the name Rocinante make you feel all warm and tingly? Does envisioning a Star Destroyer provoke a visceral reaction? Let’s discuss the states of current and futurey transportation and how sexy they can be – or not. Either way, we loves our ships, our homes away from home.

Law Enforcement on the Space Frontier
You’re a long way from law enforcement infrastructure, with possibly one woman or man, and days from any support. How do you facilitate keeping the peace? Do you have an AI for a deputy? What kind of discretion might you have to resolve friction?

Technological Solutions Save the Day
Many options previously declared impossible were implemented when businesses, organizations, and governments had to figure out a way for society to continue during lockdown. We don’t yet know whether they’ll remain available after the pandemic. Panelists discuss various examples, exploring the limitations, benefits, and how this proof of concept might affect the post-pandemic future.
