Tobias Buckell, author of The Stranger in the Citadel

Called “violent, poetic and compulsively readable” by Maclean’s, Tobias S. Buckell‘s often visionary, always fascinating work has garnered him multiple award nominations, a New York Times bestseller with Halo: The Cole Protocol (2008), and the World Fantasy Award for The Tangled Lands (2018 with Paolo Bacigalupi). Introduced in his debut novel Crystal Rain (2006), Buckell’s Xenowealth series of Caribbean inspired science fiction now includes Ragamuffin (2007), Sly Mongoose (2008), and The Apocalypse Ocean (2012). He authored a pair of Halo tie-in novels: The Cole Protocol (2008) and Envoy (2017). His thirteen novels also include Arctic Rising (2012), Hurricane Fever (2014), The Trove (2017), THE STRANGER IN THE CITADEL (2021 audio only; revised/print edition 2023), and coming June, 2024 from Tachyon THE RUNES OF ENGAGEMENT (with Dave Klecha).

Biracial and Caribbean, Buckell grew up in Grenada and spent time in the British and U.S. Virgin Islands. He currently lives in Bluffton, Ohio, with his wife and two daughters.
